Everyday addition, subtraction, multiplication and division — with memory and percent, just like the calculator on your desk.
A simple calculator (also called a basic or four-function calculator) handles the everyday arithmetic most people actually need: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, plus percentages and a memory function to hold a running total. It's the same layout as the calculator sitting in a kitchen drawer or office desk — no complex menus, just numbers and operations.
This calculator works directly in your browser, follows standard order of operations, and includes the same memory keys (M+, M-, MR, MC) found on physical desktop calculators.
| Button | Function |
|---|---|
| AC | All Clear — resets the display and current calculation |
| ← | Backspace — deletes the last digit entered |
| % | Percent — converts the entry into a percentage of the previous number |
| ± | Toggles the sign of the displayed number between positive and negative |
| M+ | Adds the current display value to memory |
| M- | Subtracts the current display value from memory |
| MR | Recalls the stored memory value to the display |
| MC | Clears the memory back to zero |
Most calculators, including this one, follow standard math rules: multiplication and division happen before addition and subtraction, unless parentheses say otherwise.
M+ adds the current display value to memory, M- subtracts it from memory, MR recalls the stored memory value to the display, and MC clears the memory back to zero.
The percent button converts the displayed number into a percentage of the previous number in the calculation. For example, 200 + 10% adds 10% of 200 (which is 20), giving 220.
